Working at Tembo: Leon Kleis and Patrick van Weeghel #WeAreTembo

Why do you do an internship at our company?

Leon:

Of course, I want to explain why I came to Tembo for an internship! The reason for this started a while ago when I was in first year of Business Engineering. I was guided around by a third-year student at Tembo. What immediately struck me was an open culture and a place where you feel at home! I came in contact with Freddy Wennemars at the end of the second year and he enthusiastically explained what Tembo did and how it takes care of its staff. Freddy and I walked around the organization and together with him, I formulated a suitable assignment.

Patrick:

My teacher mworks here at Tembo and told me how nice it is to work here and what cool projects they do. After this conversation with my teacher I immediately made contact.

What do you find attractive about the internship position that Tembo offers and how is your interaction with your colleagues?

Leon:

What I find attractive about my internship at Tembo is mainly my place in the organization and the interaction I have with my supervisor; Nienke Leijen. I am located in the corner of hall 0 and I am carrying out an assignment for Paul Huisman and Bram van den Berg. I also sit next to Rob Beltman. With Rob I have a lot of contact about everything, serious and less serious.

I find the contact with colleagues on the floor and at the office very pleasant, informal but you are certainly also taken seriously. At the break, there is room for a competitive game of table football and on Friday afternoon you can drink some beers if you want! I have no complaints about my internship period! I have a good supervisor, Nienke and I speak often about the progress of my research. I find this very pleasant for achieving the desired goal, both for my research and value for the organization.

Patrick:

Tembo offers me a lot of freedom to learn.

What do you want to learn here?

Leon:

At Tembo, I want to learn how to develop myself better, both personally and in business. Applying the theory in practice is really my thing and by talking a lot about this with other colleagues within Tembo, I am developing myself in this area.

Patrick:

Together with classmate we are busy making a package robot. This way I learn how I can work in a partnership.

Do you have any tips for your Tembo internship?

Leon:

My tip for Tembo? Keep up this program for the interns. It is very interesting and helpful to know each other. I have no negatives about the internship procedure at Tembo and I will definitely keep Tembo in mind!

Patrick:

So far I like this internship so no tips.
